about

The debut album, Sounds from the West, was recorded over the summer of 2012 and reaches into moments of pop driven beats mixed with swells of noise and layered vocals. Each song takes a different direction anywhere from loud rock or electronica to ambient and worldbeat. The album follows a singular journey through the disconnect of life in a time of social and political strife. The title is inspired by the Andrew Wyeth painting “Christina’s World” which portrays a woman in a field gazing toward a distant house.

Track Name: So Sad
So Sad

All of her troubles are just lies
That she brings up through her window
All the colors of the night
Stretch out into her libido

And it makes her feel so sad

All the tunnels are lined
With all of her life’s grafitti
Where her mind is alive
Thinking things no one else is thinking

And it makes her feel so sad

nobody listens
nobody listens
nobody listens to her when she talks
Track Name: Wild Child
Wild Child

All I want is a little substance
All I want is a little peace
We are like lost children
Looking around the aisle for our mothers

We can’t live this way forever
I’d like to say that things could change
But you’re a wild child
So I don’t what to expect

All I want is some thicker skin
And all I want is my innocence
But they threw it right out of the window
I really didn’t have a choice
Cus’ you’re a wild child
and no one knows what you’ll do next
yea you’re a wild child
and no one knows what to expect

Come on down off of your mountain
And just tell me what you see
Take a picture of tomorrow
Please don’t tell me it’s the same
Cus’ you’re a wild child
so what should we expect?
yea you’re a wild child
and no one knows what you’ll do next
Track Name: I.O.U.D.
I.O.U.D.

Woke up this morning with a pain in my gut
Looked out the window to a city that had my heart
Yea I can taste it, it’s just out of reach
I can feel it coming through my veins

I go inside, outside, upside-down
inside, outside, upside-down

The train is rumbling as the sun comes up
I guess I’ll catch it and run amuck

I go inside, outside, upside-down
inside, outside, upside-down

We lived our lives in the future
but there isn’t one that I could find
We lived our lives in the present tense
I can tell you that

we go inside, outside, upside-down
inside, outside, upside-down

under the el in a thunderstorm
slow comes the calm, the setting sun
just looking for that open door
who knows what it has in store

we go inside, outside, upside-down
inside, outside, upside-down
Track Name: Quiet Is Sound
Quiet Is Sound

Pulling every string that I can
Shaking off everyone
Levitating in the clouds above me
is the moon framed by the window pane

Small, small man you are (you are far, far away)
Living this life up and down (you are far, far away)
Passing people you were never sure of
When all this quiet is sound

I can try to let it go (let it go again)

Words go right through me
Hurting me
They’re falling through my everything
I don’t know where I’ll be

I can try to let it go (let it go again)
Track Name: Hold Me Close
Hold Me Close

There's too much, there's too much
To answer
it's a lot, quite a lot
To handle, handle

Weighing in, it's weighing in
Down on my shoulders
It takes a lot, quite a lot
To bear it

Can you hold me close?

There's too much, yeah there's too much
To bear
Especially when no one sees it
Or believes it

Can you hold me close?
Track Name: Hiding Behind Glass
Hiding Behind Glass

I should be healin’
I should be healin’ from the wounds that cover me
Instead I’m wheelin’, wheelin’ and dealin’ in the dirt of the day

they say that seasons, they bring new demons in time
don’t mark my words
either the time will kill or heal
either way i’ll make it work

I’m tired, I’m cold, I’m ready to go
I’m by myself just wanting to know
what comes next, what will push me through
to my place, my time, to something new

we don’t stop til we get what we want (4x)
Track Name: Dirt
Dirt

Looking up, it was time
we were lost in the grime
with our hearts in our hands
to be thrown in the wind

what am I? I’m a mess
smack me up, and slap me down
this is how it all ends
I’ve given all I can give

I’ve given all I have to give

in the mirror, in the book
it’s a bitch when you can’t fit
I put my head to the wall
we are not who we were

the tide turns in, what’s it mean?
can time just stop for a moment
to be erased
I wash my face, clear as day

I’ve given all I have to give
Track Name: Mad
Mad

I prayed when I was a child
and it was all I could do
when I would feel afraid
of what I could not control

In a moment, lost in my head
hell, I hope it’ll all come around

I cried when life was lost
and what was I to do?
but run with rocks in my shoes
a child with nothing to lose

In a moment, lost in my head
hell, I hope it’ll all come around
